A Fusion Reactor of the Future?!?
If plans to implement and distribute go forward as planned, by 2025, we could have reactors the size of a jet engine (that's tiny for a fusion reactor!) powering ships, cities, and more. Clean, energy!!! Go Lockheed Martin!!!

The American Canyon/Napa Valley Earthquake
Did you wake up Sunday morning at 3:21AM? I definitely did! I'm sure many of you watched the news, saw some of the photos/videos of the building and road damage, and/or got updates from your families.
Many of the reporters mention the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake (magnitude 6.9). The Napa earthquake is the largest earthquake in this region since then. That makes this earthquake the first major earthquake in your lifetime!

1. The focus of the American Canyon/Napa earthquake was approximately 6.7 miles below the earth's surface. This is considered relatively shallow. Why do you think this is important? What do you think the difference is between a "shallow" earthquake and a "deep" earthquake in terms of damage caused?
2. The US Geological Survey (USGS) is reporting about a 50% chance of another major earthquake occurring within a week as an "aftershock." Why do you think one earthquake might "trigger" another one?
